Newsha Ghaeli is currently President and Cofounder of Biobot Analytics and serves on the company’s Board of Directors.
At Biobot, she helped pioneer wastewater epidemiology as a new form of urban sensing, translating research developed at MIT into a health security infrastructure deployed across hundreds of communities. Prior to Biobot, Newsha was a Research Fellow and Project Lead at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Senseable City Laboratory. Her work at MIT explored the future of cities and the creative application of sensing technologies in urban systems.
Newsha’s work sits at the intersection of urban systems, technology, and policy. She has been named to the TIME100 Next list and Inc. Magazine’s 2026 list of innovators in the AI & Data industry. She is a frequent speaker on entrepreneurship, emerging technology, and cities, including a TED Talk delivered at TED HQ in New York City.
Newsha holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Waterloo, which recognized her with its Faculty of Engineering Young Alumni Achievement Award in 2020, and a Master of Architecture from McGill University. In 2022, she delivered the commencement keynote for MIT’s School of Architecture and Planning.
